Puppypalooza and The Plateau Effect Effect too

Rusty and I had just a fantastic time at Progressive Field this week. For Rusty, there was Puppypalooza, including a chance to walk across the field just minutes before a Royals-Indians game. They wouldn’t let him on the grass…at least this time.  But he did make plenty of friends.  The next day, I talked about The Plateau Effect with the Indians front office, including President Mark Shapiro.  It was a fascinating visit, and I’m sure I learned more than I taught.  I have this experience everywhere: Business problems are more complex than they seem at first; most people are trying really hard to do the right thing but are constrained by many forces beyond their control; and it’s amazing the variety of lenses through which you can see the extended impact of the Great Recessions. The Indians are in the thick of the playoff race, but struggling to draw 10,000 fans on early week night games.  More on that another time. For now, see Rusty in action. (Please note, taking pics with my smartphone which rustling Rusty was not so easy…)
