Yankees-branded Antivirus security software? When no lead is safe, will this software really protect you?

Cross-promotions are where it’s at, but this is kind of remarkable. I just received an e-mail pitch via the Yankees that reads: “The right call. Every time.”

Then, there’s the pitch: “Protect you Stuff and express your Yankees pride with Norton Internet Security — New York Yankees Edition.”  Team-branded credit cards are dumb enough; but this is just plain silly. With the Yanks on-the-field woes lately, which include a bullpen that makes no lead safe, this is a curveball that’s better to let go.

The pitch is also a little ironic, given that the Yankees managed to give themselves immunity from terrorism-related lawsuits not long ago, as the first pro sports team to earn the Safety Act get out of jail free card.

Let the sarcasm commence.
